Brian Lee Schappert
Their First Born
Brian was born on March 2nd 1967 at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Ia. the first of two children to Arnold and Laura Schappert. He attended Garfield Elementary, Franklin Jr. High, and Washington High Schools, all in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and then worked one year at a Kum & Go conventions Store before enrolling in classes at Coe Collage, where his majored in Political Science and History. (a double major) He continued working at The Kum & Go while in collage to help pay for his education and would work the late night and early morning Shifts when ever he could because there was less activity then and he could work in some studying while on duty. At some point during his college years he met a young lady named Connie, and they became great friends, and although it was never official they planed to marry after Brian graduated from college. However, on September 8th 1989 at the age of 22 and the start of Brian’s senior college year, he was working the early morning shift at The Kum & Go and the store was robed and Brian was murdered by someone cutting his throat and stabbed him numerous times in the back. The person or persons responsible for this was never found. Brian had a strong work ethic and during his short life Brian never gave up, when the going got hard he kept going. The World will never know what Brian would have accomplished had he of been allowed to live.

A TRIBUTE TO BRIAN BY SONG
Go Rest High On That Mountain
Vince Gill
I know your life on earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain
Go rest high on that mountain
Son your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Look for the Father and the Son
Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
Wish I could see the angels' faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Look for the Father and the Son.
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Look for the Father and the Son.
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain
Go rest high on that mountain
Son your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Look for the Father and the Son
Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
Wish I could see the angels' faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Look for the Father and the Son.
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Look for the Father and the Son.
